The All Green Agro Field Farmers Processors and Marketers Association (AGAFPAMA) has pledged its support for the Niger State government’s efforts to develop the agricultural sector. The commitment was made during the swearing-in ceremony of the association’s newly elected leaders in Minna, Niger State.

Ambassador Nura Hashim, Secretary of the National Union and President of the Union in Niger State, underscored the critical role of agriculture in national development. “Agriculture is the backbone of any nation’s economy,” he said. “By working together, we can advance the state’s agricultural sector and improve the livelihoods of our people.”

AGAFPAMA aims to empower indigenous farmers, drive agricultural development, and provide quality business services to facilitate the export of food products.

The association also commended both the state and federal governments for their ongoing efforts to revive Nigeria’s agricultural sector.

The Niger State government has recently introduced several initiatives to support agriculture, including the distribution of tractors and other equipment to farmers.

Governor Umaru Mohammed Bago, popularly known as the Farmer-Governor, has consistently highlighted the importance of agriculture to the state’s economy, pledging to restore the sector’s prominence.

The Commissioner for Agriculture, Malam Salihu Bawa Bosso, urged AGAFPAMA to formally register with the Ministry of Agriculture to foster stronger collaboration and ensure the association benefits from government support programs.

AGAFPAMA’s national leadership has also made progress in partnering with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to promote the cultivation of key crops such as cassava, wheat, and rice. This collaboration is expected to benefit farmers across the country while advancing the government’s broader agricultural development agenda.
