Niger State Governor, Umaru Bago, has called on Christians to deepen their faith in God as they commence the 2025 Lenten season — a 40-day fast in preparation for the Easter celebration.

In a message issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, the Farmer-Governor described Lent as a solemn period that calls for sober reflection, repentance, and greater commitment to spiritual activities.

He noted that the season also emphasizes the importance of self-discipline, sacrifice, intense prayers, humility, and obedience to the will of God.

Governor Bago further observed that this year’s Lent coincides closely with the commencement of the Ramadan fast, describing the development as a divine arrangement. He urged citizens to seize the opportunity to offer fervent prayers for the peace, progress, and prosperity of Niger State and the nation at large.

The Governor also encouraged citizens to continue praying for leaders at all levels to ensure good governance that will have meaningful impacts on the lives of the people.

While congratulating Christians on the commencement of Lent, he wished them a successful and spiritually rewarding exercise.

He reminded them to reflect the significance of the season in all aspects of their lives, both during and after Lent.

Governor Bago reaffirmed his commitment to running an inclusive government, free of bias, for the benefit of all citizens.
