Bandits launched a fresh attack on Shinkafi in Zamfara State last night, continuing their reign of terror on the town and its surrounding areas.
Daily Struggle reports that the attack led to the killing of Malam Aliyu, popularly known as Alinko, a well-known local guard.
A source from the community confirmed that four people—two men and two women—were kidnapped. The victims were identified as two married couples.
An eyewitness told our reporter, "Alinko was one of the guards protecting the Fegen Gara area of Shinkafi. He died this morning after the bandits rained bullets on him."
The attack on Fegen Gara, Shinkafi, occurred on Friday night.
"They took away four people," the source confirmed.
"The kidnapped victims are Adamu and his wife, as well as Malam Isah and his wife," the source added.
Shinkafi and its environs have been facing a series of attacks in recent times.
Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal recently reiterated his firm stance against negotiating with bandits, stating, "We have made it clear to everyone that we will never negotiate with the bandits. Our position is yielding results, as we are beginning to see peace gradually returning to Zamfara."
