The Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command, CP Shawulu Ebenezer Danmamman, psc, fsi, on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, has presented cheques totaling over fifty-one million naira (N51 million) to the families and next of kin of 30 police personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty in 2023.
The cheques were disbursed under the welfare schemes of the Nigeria Police Force, including the Group Life Assurance, Group Personal Accident, and IGP Family Welfare Schemes, amounting to a total of N51,539,621.45.
During the presentation, CP Danmamman emphasized that the Police Force has various welfare initiatives designed to support and alleviate the hardships faced by the families of fallen officers. He stated that the initiative reflects the Inspector General of Police's commitment to standing by the bereaved families and demonstrating compassion in their time of loss.
He acknowledged the hazardous and high-risk nature of policing, noting that, despite these challenges, officers continue to serve humanity. He reassured the families that the Force stands with them in their grief, emphasizing that "a loss to one is a loss to all."
CP Danmamman further reiterated that the welfare schemes are designed to provide financial relief and serve as a token of the Force’s solidarity with the bereaved families. Acting on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, he personally handed over the cheques to the beneficiaries.
Concluding the ceremony, he offered prayers that the financial support provided would serve as a seed that, when wisely utilized, would yield prosperity for the families. He expressed hope that the funds would not become a source of confusion but rather a source of comfort and relief for the beneficiaries.
