The Director General of the Nigerian Institute of Leather and Science Technology (NILEST), Dr. Auwal Mustapha Imam, on Wednesday, paid a courtesy visit to the Minister of Livestock Development, Alhaji Idi Mukhtar Maiha, at his office in Abuja.
The visit was a follow-up to an earlier plan by the Minister to visit NILEST for facility supervision and discussions, which could not hold due to unavoidable circumstances. To ensure the crucial dialogue took place, Dr. Imam took the initiative to meet with the Minister.
During the meeting, both officials engaged in productive discussions on enhancing livestock production, improving the preservation of hides and skins, and advancing the development of leather and leather products in Nigeria.
According to a statement signed by Nuhu Basheer Masa, Personal Assistant on Media and Communication to the DG, "The duo had fruitful deliberations and have fashioned out ways to improve on animal production, hide and skin preservation, and leather and leather products development in the country."
The discussions are expected to contribute significantly to Nigeria’s economic development by strengthening the livestock and leather sectors.
