The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kano State Council, under the leadership of Comrade Sulaiman Abdullahi Dederi, has received 450 bags of rice from the Kano State Government for distribution to its members as part of a Ramadan welfare initiative.
During the distribution, the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, described the gesture as the beginning of enhanced welfare support for journalists in the state. He urged media professionals to remain united and cooperative in pursuit of common goals.
Also speaking at the event, the Director General of Media and Publicity to the Executive Governor of Kano State, Comrade Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, stated that the government delegation was present at the NUJ Secretariat to oversee the distribution. He commended journalists in the state for their continued collaboration with the government.
In his remarks, NUJ Kano State Chairman, Comrade Sulaiman Abdullahi Dederi, expressed gratitude to the state government for its support. He assured members that the distribution process would be transparent, ensuring that every eligible journalist benefits from the Ramadan relief package.
