The Jigawa State Government, in collaboration with the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), has taken a significant step towards digital governance with the launch of JIGAWA ONE API, an AI-driven platform designed to enhance government services and integrate cutting-edge technologies.

The initiative was announced during the closing ceremony of the E-Government Capacity Building Programme, attended by Governor Umar Namadi and KOICA’s Country Director, Mr. Son Sungil. Under the program, 112 civil servants from 50 ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) received specialized training.

Governor Namadi emphasized the strategic importance of the partnership, expressing confidence that the collaboration with KOICA would accelerate the realization of the state's digital transformation objectives. He reiterated Jigawa’s commitment to modernizing governance through technology, stating that ICT remains a key sector in the state’s 12-point agenda for social and economic development. He also reaffirmed the government’s determination to restore Jigawa’s position as a leader in e-governance and ICT-driven progress.

The newly launched JIGAWA ONE API platform will serve as a central hub for integrating e-government solutions, facilitating seamless data sharing and collaboration among MDAs. The system incorporates artificial intelligence, blockchain, and quantum computing, marking a major advancement in the state's digital infrastructure.

Governor Namadi highlighted the role of the platform in promoting transparency and efficiency in governance, stressing that the initiative aligns with the state's commitment to good governance, accountability, and improved citizen engagement. He also announced plans to update Jigawa’s E-Governance Master Plan, which was developed five years ago with support from the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA). He noted that the revision would incorporate emerging trends in artificial intelligence and smart government services.

Addressing the program participants, Governor Namadi urged them to apply the skills and knowledge gained during their training to enhance service delivery and drive positive change within their respective workplaces.

Dr. Rislan Kanya, the Governor’s Technical Adviser on ICT and Digital Economy, provided further insights into KOICA’s role in Jigawa’s digital transformation. He acknowledged Korea’s contributions to Nigeria’s e-governance initiatives and emphasized Jigawa’s plans to leverage Korean expertise in integrating AI, blockchain, and quantum computing into its governance framework.
