The Makarfi People Advocate Forum has distributed foodstuffs worth millions of naira to less privileged individuals to support them during the month of Ramadan.
Beneficiaries of the relief package included orphans, widows, and other vulnerable members of society, aimed at easing their feeding needs during the fasting period.
Barrister Abdulhadi Abdullahi Makarfi, National President of the forum, made this announcement during the food distribution event at Shehu Idris College of Health Science and Technology, Makarfi. He stated that the gesture was intended to provide relief and alleviate economic hardship for the beneficiaries.
Barrister Makarfi, who also serves as the Director of the Kaduna State Enterprise Development Agency (KADEDA), disclosed that over 300 individuals, including the less privileged, orphans, and widows, benefitted from the forum’s initiative. He commended the contributions of wealthy individuals and other stakeholders who made the distribution possible and urged beneficiaries to use the food items wisely to improve their living conditions.
Speaking at the event, the Secretary-General of the forum, Alhaji Adamu Mohammed, emphasized that the organization is committed to selflessly serving the community in various capacities. He highlighted the forum’s efforts in tackling social issues such as child and drug abuse, rape, and cultism. Additionally, the forum focuses on human rights advocacy, free medical services, economic empowerment, education, and public awareness of government policies and programs.
Alhaji Garba Mohammed Sabon Gari, Chairman of Makarfi Local Government Area, represented by Alhaji Auwal Mohammed, praised the forum’s initiative in supporting the less privileged. He assured that his administration remains committed to improving the lives of all residents in the area. He also stressed that security remains a top priority and called on non-governmental and civil society organizations to collaborate in achieving this goal.
In his remarks, Sheikh Surajo Mujittafa, Chief Imam of Tashar Yari (JIBWIS), urged wealthy individuals to invest in religious and humanitarian activities, particularly during Ramadan, for spiritual rewards.
The District Head of Makarfi and Sulukin Zazzau, Alhaji Adamu Abdullahi, represented by Alhaji Kabiru Abdullahi Sada, thanked the organizers for their generosity. He called on the government to support the forum in its mission to alleviate poverty and enhance security in the community.
Last year, the forum supported over 200 widows and 500 prisoners with medical assistance to improve their health and well-being.
