The Kebbi State Pilgrims Welfare Agency has commended Governor Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, for facilitating a smooth and successful maiden edition of the Umrah (Lesser Hajj) in the state.

The agency’s Executive Chairman, Alhaji Faruk Musa Yaro Enabo, gave the commendation during a telephone interview on Thursday.

He highlighted that the departure of intending pilgrims for the Lesser Hajj from Sir Ahmadu Bello International Airport, Birnin Kebbi, marked a historic milestone, being the first of its kind since the state's creation.

Yaro Enabo attributed the seamless execution of the exercise to the unwavering support of the present administration under the leadership of Governor Idris.

He expressed satisfaction with the arrangements made by the agency to ensure the safety and comfort of the pilgrims, particularly during their stay in the Holy Land.

The chairman also prayed for Almighty Allah to grant the governor wisdom, courage, and capacity to continue delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of Kebbi State.

A cross-section of intending pilgrims expressed their delight over what they described as a well-organized exercise and urged the government to sustain the initiative.

They also used the opportunity to offer prayers for Governor Idris, wishing him success in his leadership.

It may be recalled that the maiden Umrah from Kebbi State took off from Sir Ahmadu Bello International Airport, Birnin Kebbi, on Monday, March 10, 2025, at approximately 5 a.m.
