Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state has expressed the confidence that the lessons learned during the month of Ramadan fast would continue to guide the actions and utterances of the Muslim Ummah after the holy month.

He described the Eid-el Fitr celebration as a moment to revive the sense of Tawhid  after the Ramadan fast and feel the joy for having fasted, prayed, and immersed ourselves in worship.

The Governor in his message on the occasion of this year's Eid-el Fitr celebration issued by his media aide Mukhtar Gidado on Sunday, said that the religious event also symbolises purity, renewal, and generosity as support to the poor and needy as an important part of the annual event which brings people and communities together.

"As a sacred day, the Eid-el-Fitr should not only be turned into a mere holiday defined by pomp and pageantry but  should be used as an occassion to atone for our shortcomings and resolve to take corrective measures towards improving our relationship with Allah (SWT), fellow Muslim Ummah and  adherents of other faith".

Governor Bala urged the Muslims emulate Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) by making sacrifices for the benefit of the less privileged in the society, and pray to Almighty Allah for peace, unity and prosperity of Bauchi state and the country as a whole.

"As a Government, we will not relent in our drive to ensure the  continuous peaceful coexistence among the  heterogeneous ethnic and religious groups in the State.  I appeal for  your  continued understanding, cooperation and support towards the realization of this noble objective," the governor appealed.

The governor called on the people of the state to use the occasion of the Eid-el-fitr to strengthen the existing relationships among them, while establishing new ones, as well as imbibe the spirit of  forgiveness, love and respect for one another.

Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed similarly appealed for tolerance, accommodation and a sense of understanding among the various ethnic, religious and political groups in the state.

"As we approach the half-mark  of our second  and final term, I want to  assure you that our government  will not  only sustain the tempo in  providing the dividends of democracy but would strive to improve upon its performance in this regard".

He further appealed for continued support and cooperation to his administration, saying "We are not unmindful of the  economic difficulties being experienced by the people in the country and in our dear state".

"I want to assure you that  Government is doing everything possible to see to the improvement of the situation. We have remained resolute in our determination to provide a robust social protection mechanism to address the challenges of the citizens".

It could be recalled that Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed was in Saudi Arabia for the Lesser Hajiya, and expected to return to the country soon.
