The Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Institute of Leather and Science Technology (NILEST), Zaria, Dr. Auwal Mustapha Imam, has expressed shock over the passing of renowned Islamic scholar, Sheikh Mainasara Liman Habibi.

Sheikh Mainasara Liman passed away on Saturday at a hospital in Abuja after a prolonged illness. He was aged 74 and is survived by three wives and fifteen children.

In a statement issued by the Special Assistant on Media and Communication to the DG, Nuhu Basheer Masa, it was noted that the late Sheikh Mainasara Liman hailed from Gyellesu, Zaria. Before his death, he served as the National Chairman of the Preachers' Committee of Fityanul Islam.

In his condolence message, Dr. Auwal Imam described the late cleric as a devoted and dedicated preacher who spent nearly his entire life promoting Qur'anic teachings and advocating for peaceful coexistence across Zaria, Kaduna State, and Nigeria at large.

According to him, Sheikh Mainasara lived a life worthy of emulation, noting that he was a versatile Islamic scholar who established and taught in several Islamic schools and mosques in different locations.

"I have known Malam for many years because we both hail from the same community, Gyellesu. He used to preach in three mosques every day," the DG added.

Dr. Auwal Imam extended his heartfelt condolences to the entire Gyellesu community, Tudun Wada, the Zazzau Emirate, the Government of Kaduna State, and the national body of Fityanul Islam over the loss.

He also prayed to Allah (SWT) to grant the deceased Jannatul Firdaus and to give his family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
