Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr Nasir Idris, has dismissed claims circulating on social media suggesting he and four other governors are planning to defect from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to join a purported political coalition led by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

In a strongly worded statement released by his media office, Governor Idris described the rumour as “ridiculously malicious” and the work of “the most uninteresting political comedians.”

“The attention of the APC-made Governor of Kebbi State, Comrade Dr Nasir Idris, has been drawn to a ridiculously malicious report circulating on social media that he and four other Governors were planning to dump their darling party, the APC, and join an imaginary coalition purportedly captained by the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, working in cohorts with some other politicians,” the statement read.

“This report is not only false, but it is a huge joke,” it continued.

While expressing his unwavering loyalty to the APC, Governor Idris dismissed the allegation as an insult to his political integrity and the trust placed in him by the people of Kebbi State.

“His Excellency would have chosen to ignore the report as a dance of mad fellows dancing naked in the marketplace,” the statement noted, “but for the avoidance of doubt, Governor Idris wishes to state categorically that he is not a political prostitute. He is made in APC, by APC and for APC.”

Governor Idris reiterated his commitment to his party, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the people of Kebbi State.

“I’m completely focused on making Kebbi State better and consolidating the gains and successes of our party and our leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he said. “If they tell you again that Kaura is likely to leave his APC, tell them I will be the last man standing.”

Governor Idris emphasised that his loyalty to the APC is rooted in the overwhelming support he enjoys from the people of Kebbi State, whom he said are fully aligned with the ruling party.
