Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has inaugurated the new leaders of Niger State Development Forum, at the State liaison office, in Abuja.

The farmer Governor described the establishment of the Forum as a great idea, especially with its interest in the Development of Niger State.

Speaking on efforts being made on the development plan of Niger State, farmer Governor Umaru Bago said his administration is working on 50, 30 and 10 years long-term, mid-term and short-term plans respectively explaining that the plans will take care of infrastructural deficit and other relevant sectors of the State.

He maintained that Niger State is blessed with natural, human and capital resources and its development is sacrosanct; hence, the New Niger agenda was initiated which he said would engender development in the State to make it compete favorably with other States of the Federation.

While congratulating the new leaders of the Forum, the farmer Governor charged the forum to make efforts to ensure that Niger State is adequately compensated for its contributions to the creation of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja and also facilitate good placing for Nigerlites working in Federal establishments while promising his support to the Forum, especially its secretariat for effective service.

The New Chairman of the Niger State Development Forum, who is also the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alh. Mohammed Idris Malagi in his remarks, reaffirmed his commitment and full acceptance of the leadership role of the Forum and will work diligently to move it forward.

He said the Forum, which is non-political and impartial, is designed to help the State develop regardless of any differences, and that among it vision and strategic priorities are to enhance policy advisory capacity; expand membership and collaborations.

The new Chairman commended the former leadership of the Forum for demonstrating selflessness and dedication to service, and appealed for a sustained commitment and energy of all the members of the Forum to achieve greater results.

Also speaking, the Co-Chairman who doubles as the Minister of State, Agriculture and Food Security, Abdullahi Sabi Aliyu said there is no better time for the Forum to fly higher than now, especially with the New Niger mantra and promised to give his best for the success of the Forum.

Earlier, the former and pioneer Chairman of the Niger State Development Forum and past Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Zubairu Dada, said he is handing over the mantle of leadership with confidence and pride knowing that the Forum is in good hands.

He noted that the new Chairman is a founding member who made significant contributions to its establishment, reiterating that the new leadership will chat a bold and strategic path towards supporting the Bago-led administration to success.

The former Chairman said the Forum which started with only Nigerlites that are in Federal establishments, especially those based in Abuja, has been expanded to accommodate those in Boards of Federal Tertiary Institutions and called on the farmer Governor to provide institutional support for the Forum.
