Bauchi South Concerned Citizens Movement, a political pressure group has strongly condemns the alleged physical harassment on Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar by agents or cronies of the Bauchi State Government.
'We are outraged by this egregious act, which undermines democracy, rule of law, and human dignity, especially as it affect one of our own, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Honourable Yusuf Tuggar", movement said.
Group in a press statement yesterday signed by its spokesperson, Hon. Bala Juwara, explained that Ambassador Tuggar's distinguished service and contributions to Bauchi State and Nigeria warrant respect and protection by every well meaning citizen.
To this end, the Bauchi South citizens demanded an immediate investigation and prosecution of perpetrators of the dastardly act, as well as guarantee of Ambassador Tuggar's safety and security.
Bauchi south citizens similarly demanded an unconditional written apology from Bauchi State Government, with an undertaking that such act would not rear it's ugly head again.
Hon. Bala Juwara therefore urged responsible citizens, leaders, and stakeholders to join the movement in condemning this incident, as it demand accountability and respect for human rights.
Citizens assured, "We stand in solidarity with Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar and commit to seeking justice and promoting accountability in governance.
It could be recalled that the Deputy Governor of Bauchi State, Rt. Hon. Auwal Mohammed Jatau, was allegedly involved in an altercation where he was said to have slapped the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, reportedly in retaliation on behalf of his principal.
However, the Deputy Governor thought his media aide, Muslim Lawal denied the allegation.
