Niger State Governor, Farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago, has called on Nigerlites to celebrate Eid-il-Fitr by extending love and kindness to those around them, particularly the vulnerable members of society.
The governor made this appeal after observing the two-unit Eid prayers at the Minna Eid prayer ground in commemoration of this year’s Eid-il-Fitr.
Represented by his deputy, Comrade Yakubu Garba, Governor Bago expressed gratitude to Allah for the opportunity to witness the holy month of Ramadan and celebrate Eid. He urged residents to uphold the spirit of brotherhood and generosity beyond the festive season.
He also encouraged Muslims to sustain the virtues acquired during Ramadan by purifying their hearts and remaining conscious of life’s uncertainties.
Governor Bago further appealed to the people of the state to remain steadfast in prayers for an end to security challenges, assuring that both the federal and state governments are proactively addressing the situation.
Additionally, he called on residents to embrace peace and abide by the law as a reflection of Islamic teachings.
Following the prayers, Deputy Governor Comrade Yakubu Garba led a delegation of government officials to pay Sallah homage to Nigeria’s former Military President, Gen. Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, at his residence in Minna.
Dignitaries at the Eid prayer ground included former Niger State Governor Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, the Emir of Minna, Umar Faruk Bahago, Head of Service Abubakar Sadiq Idris, commissioners, Deputy Chief of Staff Sadiq Yusuf, Special Adviser on Political Matters Nma Kolo, and Mohammed Babangida, among others.
