Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has commended the Department of State Services (DSS) for the successful rescue of three kidnapped Catholic priests in Numan Local Government Area.

In a statement issued on Friday by his Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou, Governor Fintiri applauded the DSS for their professionalism and swift action, noting that the victims were rescued without any ransom payment.

The Governor specifically acknowledged the efforts of the DSS Director General and the Adamawa State Command for the intelligence-driven operation, which also led to the arrest of the prime suspect, Tahamado Jonathan Damien, a member of the church.

Governor Fintiri reiterated his administration's unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state.
“We will not spare anybody found wanting—no matter who you are,” he stated firmly.

He emphasized the importance of intelligence sharing and collaboration among security agencies, expressing optimism that sustained efforts by the DSS, police, armed forces, and other stakeholders would restore investor confidence and enhance socio-economic growth.

The victims—Rev. Fathers Matthew David Dusami and Abraham Samman—were abducted in February 2025 from their residence at a convent in Gweda Mallam, Numan LGA.

Governor Fintiri praised the DSS for restoring hope to the affected families and reiterated his administration’s zero tolerance for crime.
