In a strategic move to enhance its production capacity, Dangote Packaging Limited (DPL) has commissioned state-of-the-art machinery at its Obajana Plant.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony held on Wednesday, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of DPL, Mr. Sai Prakash, described the new machines as cutting-edge, emphasizing their potential to significantly improve both productivity and the quality of polypropylene laminated sacks produced by the company.
“This is a major milestone for us,” he said. “These machines represent the latest in manufacturing technology, and they will play a vital role in elevating our standards and output.”
Also present at the event was the Group Managing Director of Dangote Cement Plc, Mr. Arvind Pathak, who expressed satisfaction with the installation. He noted the remarkable transformation in cement bag production over the years and expressed confidence that the newly acquired technology would address existing challenges in quality assurance.
The Chief Manufacturing Officer of Dangote Cement Plc, Mr. Sunil Mahajan, and the Director of Operations (Nigeria), Mr. Anandam Duraisamy, echoed similar sentiments, expressing optimism that the machinery would lead to significant progress in production volume and quality.
On his part, the Plant Director of Dangote Cement Plc, Obajana, Engr. Azad Nawabuddin, reiterated the plant’s commitment to supporting DPL, adding that the new equipment would greatly enhance operational synergy between DPL and DCP (Dangote Cement Plant).
Earlier in his welcome address, the General Manager of Dangote Packaging Limited, Obajana Plant, Mr. Peter Dickson, highlighted the significance of the development.
“Today, we stand at the brink of a new era,” he said. “This technology is not just a machine; it is an investment in our future and a testament to our pursuit of excellence in manufacturing.”
He added that the newly commissioned machines are high-speed, innovative, and built with advanced technology that will position DPL as a leader in the packaging industry.
