The International Studies and Diplomacy Alumni Association of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, has disbursed N1.6 million in scholarships to 24 indigent students of the department.
Speaking during the scholarship award presentation held at the Vice Chancellor's office on the main campus in Samaru, the President of the association, Ambassador Muntari Abdu Kaita, explained that the initiative was launched by the national body of the alumni association. Of the 24 beneficiaries, 22 were nominated by the association, while two female students were sponsored by an alumna, Madam Surikat.
He noted that the students were carefully selected through a rigorous screening process and found deserving of the support. Each recipient received the sum of N69,000 to assist them in continuing their academic pursuits.
Ambassador Kaita also informed the Vice Chancellor of the association’s plans to organize a symposium in September 2025, aimed at further contributing to the development of the department and the university at large.
In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University, Professor Kabiru Bala, commended the International Studies and Diplomacy Alumni Association for their commitment to supporting indigent students. He encouraged alumni from other departments to emulate this gesture, emphasizing that such support could significantly alleviate the academic burdens faced by many students.
