On April 24, 2025, at approximately 1900hrs, a team of police officers attached to the Special Intervention Squad, led by ASP Bilyaminu Koko, intercepted a group of bandits during a surveillance patrol along the Bobo–Mayanchi axis of Anka Local Government Area, Zamfara State.
A fierce gun battle ensued, during which the police, utilizing superior firepower, overpowered the bandits and forced them to flee with suspected gunshot wounds. After the operation, the police recovered an AK-47 rifle with breach number 20746, dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, and substances believed to be hard drugs.
The Commissioner of Police, Zamfara State Command, CP Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba, PSC, commended the officers for their bravery and operational effectiveness. He reiterated the command’s commitment to working closely with law-abiding citizens to secure the state. He also urged members of the public to provide timely and credible information that could assist security agencies in combating crime.
