...Labels Him a “Complete Failure,” Vows to Mobilise Against His Re-election

By Muhammad Farouk

A civic group, the Kaduna Central Movement for Development (KCMD), has condemned Senator Lawal Adamu (popularly known as Mr. LA), who represents Kaduna Central Senatorial District, over what it describes as his “complete failure” to utilize constituency funds for visible developmental projects.

The group expressed disappointment in a statement on Monday, citing Senator Adamu’s alleged inability to deliver meaningful infrastructure or empowerment initiatives, despite reports of increased allocations for constituency projects.

“It’s been nearly two years since Senator Adamu was elected to represent the people of Kaduna North, Kaduna South, Chikun, Giwa, Birnin-Gwari, and Igabi local government areas. Yet, there is little to show in terms of impact,” the statement, signed by KCMD Chairman Comrade Yahaya Babangida, read.

The group’s outrage follows revelations by Ayodele Asalu, a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, who recently claimed that allocations for lawmakers’ constituency projects were significantly increased following the removal of fuel subsidies last year.

According to the KCMD, current figures suggest that each senator receives a minimum of ₦2 billion annually for constituency interventions, while members of the House of Representatives receive at least ₦1 billion.

“These funds are meant to uplift rural communities, address socio-economic challenges, and empower constituents,” the statement continued. “But in Kaduna Central, Senator Adamu has failed woefully. He should come forward and present a record of how much he has received and what projects, if any, have been executed.”

The group accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmaker of squandering a golden opportunity to serve his constituents meaningfully and pledged to rally voters across the seven local governments in the district to block his return to the Senate in 2025.

“We are mobilising. As concerned citizens across Kaduna Central, we will ensure that such a failure does not return to the National Assembly,” the group vowed.

While expressing dissatisfaction with Senator Adamu’s performance, the KCMD commended the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the upward review of constituency allocations. They argued that the increased funds were a strategic move aimed at accelerating grassroots development and improving citizens’ welfare through more responsive representation.
