In a bid to promote local entrepreneurship and youth empowerment, the Chairman of Sabon Gari Local Government Area in Kaduna State and also the Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Kaduna State Chapter, Hon. Abubakar Jamilu Albani, has donated the sum of N1 million to a group of tin artisans operating within the local government.
The donation was announced during a brief ceremony held at the local government secretariat on Monday. It forms part of a broader initiative by the Albani-led administration to support small-scale industries and tackle youth unemployment.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Albani emphasized the vital role artisans play in driving the local economy. He described the donation as a strategic move to strengthen the informal sector, which he noted remains a cornerstone of community development.
“We recognize the importance of supporting small businesses, especially those that create jobs and ease economic hardship in our communities. This financial assistance is intended to boost productivity among our hardworking artisans,” he said.
Beneficiaries of the fund—artisans involved in the fabrication and repair of tin materials—expressed heartfelt appreciation to the chairman. They pledged to use the support to expand their businesses and train new apprentices.
Leaders of the Tin Artisans Association also used the occasion to appeal for additional government support, particularly in the areas of modern equipment and technical training.
The N1 million donation is one of several empowerment initiatives recently launched by the Sabon Gari Local Government to stimulate grassroots economic development and promote self-reliance.
