The College of Agriculture, Science and Technology, Bauchi has made a significant leap into the digital age through the implementation of various innovative initiatives aimed at improving the quality of education, advancing research, enhancing agricultural technology, and aligning with global standards.
Provost of the College, Dr. Ahmad Isah, disclosed this in an interview with journalists in Bauchi.
He revealed that the institution has installed 24-hour solar-powered lighting across its library, clinic, and ICT facilities, thereby creating a conducive environment for learning.
“The College has also transitioned to a refurbished and well-equipped physical and digital library, with reliable internet connectivity. This allows students access to a wide range of academic resources,” Dr. Ahmad said.
He added that the institution's website, Gmail services, and social media platforms are now fully operational, offering greater visibility and accessible information about the College.
According to him, academic records have been centralized and automated on the College portal, ensuring transparency, convenience, and data security.
“Our academic and administrative staff now demonstrate over 90% computer literacy and engagement, which ensures that students receive the highest standard of education,” the Provost noted.
He further disclosed that the College has developed a standard intervention plan, which includes the upgrading of school infrastructure and its gymnasium.
In a collaborative effort with the Bauchi State Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Provost revealed that plans are underway to establish an Athletic Academy within the College premises. This will offer students the opportunity to develop their athletic talents alongside their academic pursuits.
Dr. Ahmad also announced the upcoming launch of the College’s Innovation Center in the next academic semester. The center will offer dual certification programs focused on entrepreneurship and digital skills for graduating students.
“The College has entered into strategic partnerships with organizations such as the National Power Training Institute of Nigeria (NAPTIN), Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), and the Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD) to drive these initiatives forward,” he added.
The Provost expressed profound appreciation to the Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, for his unwavering support, which he said has been instrumental in the College's recent achievements.
“The Governor has shown remarkable support by approving funds for the accreditation of all existing programs and giving the green light for the accreditation of four additional programs,” Dr. Ahmad stated.
