Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago of Niger State has called on 2025 Hajj pilgrims from the state to conduct themselves as worthy ambassadors of Nigeria throughout their spiritual journey in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Addressing the second batch of intending pilgrims at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport, Minna, the Governor—fondly referred to as the “Farmer Governor”—advised them to remain law-abiding and respectful of the laws of their host country.
"Remember that the laws of Saudi Arabia are different from ours. You are representing not just Niger State, but the entire country. Be disciplined and respectful," Governor Bago urged.
He also enjoined the pilgrims to offer special prayers for the peace, progress, and security of Nigeria, particularly for divine intervention in resolving the security challenges affecting parts of the country.
Acknowledging the challenging weather conditions in the holy land, Governor Bago advised the pilgrims to stay well-coordinated and ensure proper hydration during their pilgrimage.
The Governor commended the airline handling the airlift for its professionalism and expressed confidence that the 2025 Hajj exercise would be smooth and successful.
So far, 795 pilgrims have been airlifted from Niger State. The latest group includes 310 Batch B pilgrims from Mokwa, Borgu, and Shiroro Local Government Areas. Earlier, 485 pilgrims from Mariga and Mashegu Local Government Areas formed the first batch to depart.
Governor Bago was accompanied to the farewell event by his Deputy, Comrade Yakubu Garba; the Etsu Nupe and Chairman of the Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers; the State Amirul Hajj and Emir of Kagara, Ahmad Garba Gunna; along with other senior government officials.
