Niger State Governor, Farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago, has directed the Commissioner for Communication, Technology, and Digital Economy, Suleiman Isah, to initiate the creation of a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) to facilitate a strategic partnership with the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA).

The governor issued the directive while receiving a delegation from NASRDA led by its Director-General, Dr. Matthew Olumide Adepoju, at the Niger State Liaison Office in Abuja.

Governor Bago emphasized the urgency of the collaboration, noting that the SPV would help eliminate bureaucratic bottlenecks, accelerate the partnership process, and ensure tangible outcomes.

“There is no better time to partner with NASRDA than now,” the governor said. “The SPV will define the terms of engagement and will be officially gazetted, just as we’ve done in other sectors.”

Earlier, NASRDA’s Director-General, Dr. Adepoju, expressed the agency’s readiness to collaborate with the Niger State government in leveraging space technology to boost agriculture, improve security, enhance education, and drive development across other key sectors.

He commended Governor Bago’s visionary use of technology in governance, describing him as “a right peg in a right hole.”

“Your Excellency, your forward-thinking approach to leadership is commendable. The impact of your work is being recognized far beyond the borders of Niger State,” Dr. Adepoju remarked.

NASRDA also delivered a PowerPoint presentation outlining its capabilities and how space technology can be applied to advance good governance in Niger State. The governor expressed satisfaction with the presentation and reiterated his administration’s commitment to embracing innovation for development.
