The Senate of the Federal University Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA) has appointed Prof. Aminu Ado as the Acting Vice-Chancellor of the institution.
Prof. Ado, who previously served as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, was elected during the university’s 130th special Senate meeting held on Monday. His appointment was confirmed through a vote in which he secured 92 votes in favour and two against.
The announcement was contained in an official statement issued by the Director of Information and Protocol of the university, Mr. Nasir Abdul, in Katsina.
Prof. Ado succeeds Prof. Armaya’u Hamisu-Bichi, whose tenure as Vice-Chancellor ended on the same day. According to the statement, the special Senate session was convened by Prof. Hamisu-Bichi to ensure a smooth transition and avoid a leadership vacuum pending the appointment of a substantive Vice-Chancellor.
During the meeting, Prof. Hamisu-Bichi emphasised the importance of collective participation by Senate members in selecting the acting Vice-Chancellor.
Prof. Aminu Ado hails from Kafur Local Government Area of Katsina State. He was born on June 13, 1972, in Kankia Local Government Area.
