Demsa, Adamawa State – The Member representing Numan/Demsa/Lamurde Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Kwamoti Bitrus La'ori (Murum Bondo Mbula), has commissioned a newly constructed six-classroom block at Government Day Secondary School (GDSS), Dilli, in Demsa Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

The facility, built as part of his constituency development projects, was officially inaugurated on Monday, marking the fulfilment of a promise La’ori made during his 2023 election campaign.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Hon. La’ori recounted how community members in Dilli Ward had expressed concern over the lack of classrooms during his campaign visit. He noted that both the senior and junior sections of the school were in dire need of learning infrastructure.

"When I came to campaign here, one of the major complaints was the absence of classrooms. I saw it myself. Today, with God's help, not only have we built classrooms, but we have also provided chairs, books, and other learning materials to ease the burden of education on our children," he said.

He appealed to the community to take ownership of the facility. “This building belongs to you. If anything happens to it, take the initiative to fix it. Don’t wait for Kwamoti to return and repair it. Treat it as your own, because your children, not the government, will study here,” La’ori advised.

The federal lawmaker also raised concerns about the severe shortage of teachers at the school, revealing that just five teachers were responsible for 360 students. He described the situation as alarming and inadequate, promising to push for government intervention to deploy more teachers.

In a move to encourage academic excellence, Hon. La’ori announced a cash prize of ₦200,000 each for the overall best-performing male and female students in the school.

The Chairman of Demsa Local Government, Hon. Akam Jalo, lauded the lawmaker’s widespread developmental efforts across all 11 wards of Demsa and the entire constituency. He urged the Dilli community to maintain the facility and promptly report any damage for swift repairs.

Also speaking at the event, the District Head of Mbula, Chief Nelson Denial, who represented His Royal Majesty, Murum Mbula Bwaltam Biyapo Bently (Mboiman II), expressed the emirate’s appreciation to Hon. La’ori. “May God continue to strengthen you in this noble mission. We urge parents and community members to take care of this facility for the benefit of future generations,” he said.

The school principal, Mrs. Faith Jerimonth Ndu, described the project as a testament to Hon. La’ori’s commitment to equitable representation and quality education. “This classroom block is not just a building – it’s a legacy that will shape the lives of our children for years to come,” she said, pledging continued support for his political aspirations.

The ceremony also featured the presentation of awards to Hon. La’ori and traditional dance performances in celebration of the occasion.
