Bauchi state commissioner for internal security and home affairs, Hon. Ibrahim Galadima has commended a non-governmental organisation, Search for Common Ground for its initiative of changing the mindset of communities for harmonious and peaceful co-existence among individuals.

The commissioner expressed optimism that if such designed programmes of putting people understand themselves especially in advancing youth inclusiveness in policy solution the designed objective can be achieved.

Hon. Ibrahim Galadima was speaking at a stakeholders for advancing youth-inclusive policy solution for peace, religious freedom, and community resilience in Bauchi state held at Hazibal Suites, BAuchi.

He explained that his ministry is having synergy with non-governmental organisation, especially the Search for Common Ground with which they have been doing alot of things together.

Commissioner Ibrahim Galadima however counseled the NGO to apart from dwelling much on religious aspects, should extend their programmes to economic values because most of the violence are economic in nature.

Galadima added, "So once the the economic problems are tackle, Iam sure the religious aspects of some of the violence would have been nip in the bud".

A member representing Warji State Constituency in the Bauchi House of Assembly, Hon. Garba Lawal who also took part in the roundtable discussions on the project, described the event as very impressive having enlightened youths on shunning away conflict and anything that has got to do with violence.

The state lawmaker assured the legislature willingly ready to pass any law that would be useful to any community, especially citizens of Bauchi state that would promote peaceful co-existence among the various segments of the society.

Also speaking, a project manager with Search for Common Ground under the Nigerian Collective Action on Religious Engagement Project, Madam Yah Askira, working with three state of Plateau, Bauchi and Gombe towards advancing freedom of religion or believe in those states.

She explained that the Search for Common Ground is putting alot of advocacy initiatives in the catchment states towards promoting peace, quality formulation, and advancing issues of conflicts and tensions that is affecting religion and peaceful co-existence.

"Part of the project, we are working with micro influencers and community stewards. These are youths we are working with in terms of our initiatives of the project. These micro influencers are working to provide alternative peaceful resolutions on issues of hate speeches, misinformation in the online social media platforms".

Askira explained that the project is working towards advancing freedom of religion or believe, tolerance and promoting peaceful co-existence in Plateau, Bauchi and Gombe states, stressing that the objective is to make the youths well-informed and participate online towards advancing freedom of religion and have the capacity to influence policies.

It is also to secure stakeholders buy-in for the implementation of a policy roadmap, and to strengthen partnership among government, Civil society, traditional/religious leaders and community groups.
