A joint delegation from Bauchi and Gombe States has urged the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) to intensify its efforts and ensure the speedy and timely execution of the Kolmani Oil Exploration Project.

The delegation, comprising key stakeholders including; Commissioner for Commerce, Trade and Investment, Hon. Muhammad Salis Gamawa; and Gombe State Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Hon. Sunusi Ahmad Pindiga, made the call during an inspection visit to the Kolmani Well project site.

The commissioners expressed concern over the slow pace of work, urging the company handling the project to provide a comprehensive status update and a clear timeline for completion.

They emphasised the importance of proper oversight and timely intervention where necessary.

Speaking during the visit, Bauchi State Commissioner for Natural Resources Development, Hon. Muhammad Maiwada Bello said, "Our communities are eager to know the status of this crucial project. We are here to protect their rights and interests.

"Every delay means lost revenue. We must work together with all stakeholders to ensure the timely completion of the Kolmani project."

He stressed the need for transparency and accountability in managing the project, saying that, "This project is essential for the economic development of Bauchi and Gombe States. It must be delivered on time and meet the expectations of our people."

For his part, Gombe State Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Hon. Sunusi Ahmad Pindiga, said, "We need a comprehensive and up-to-date report on this project. It plays a vital role in the development plans of both our states, and it is critical that it is completed within the set timeframe and budget."

He further called on NNPCL and the managing company to ensure that the project benefits host communities and aligns with their developmental needs.

While responding, Mr. Unique, Base Manager of AOML, assured the delegation that their concerns would be communicated to higher authorities for necessary action.

He appreciated the ongoing cooperation with host communities in both states and described the engagement as a positive step forward.

The delegation also included Permanent Secretaries, Directors of Petroleum Resources, representatives of traditional institutions from affected communities, and the Rector of the Oil & Gas Academy in Alkaleri, Bauchi State.

The Kolmani Integrated Development Project is a landmark initiative expected to significantly boost the economic landscape of both Bauchi and Gombe States.

The delegation’s visit underscores the shared commitment of both states to ensure transparency, collaboration, and the realisation of the project's full potential for the benefit of the region and the nation at large.
