The Bauchi State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has announced the dissolution of all Area Education Officers and School Support Officers across the twenty Local Government Areas of the state.

The Chairman of SUBEB, Alhaji Adamu Mohammed Duguri, made the announcement while addressing Education Secretaries from the 20 local government areas during a meeting in Bauchi.

In a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of SUBEB, Isah Mohammed Jungudo, the chairman said the decision also affects Arabic and Christian visiting teachers, Early Child Care Development and Education (ECCDE) supervisors, and library supervisors under the twenty Local Education Authorities (LEAs), who have all been relieved of their duties.

According to Duguri, the dissolution is part of the state government’s ongoing efforts to comprehensively reform the monitoring and supervision system within the state’s education sector.

He directed all relevant departments within SUBEB and the LEAs to ensure a smooth transition process, including proper safeguarding of records and continuity of ongoing educational initiatives.

The chairman further clarified that, going forward, only school support officers appointed under the guidelines of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), SUBEB, and LEAs will be recognized for supervision duties.

Duguri explained that fresh appointments would be made in due course by the Education Secretaries in line with newly developed guidelines designed to ensure a standardized and effective selection process.

“These guidelines will be distributed to all LEAs to promote fairness, improve the quality of educational supervision, and guarantee consistency in the support provided to schools,” Duguri said.

He emphasized that the move is intended to strengthen educational oversight, enhance service delivery, and improve learning outcomes across public schools in Bauchi State.

Duguri also directed all affected officers to immediately report to their respective LEA headquarters for assessment and documentation.
