Bashir Ahmad, former media aide to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, has dismissed reports suggesting that the former Nigerian leader is critically ill and admitted to an Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
In a statement shared via his official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Thursday, July 3, Ahmad confirmed that Buhari is indeed unwell and receiving medical attention but emphasized that his condition is stable and improving.
"It is true that former President Buhari is unwell and is currently receiving medical attention. However, contrary to the exaggerated claims circulating in the media, he is stable and responding well to treatment, and we are optimistic about his full recovery," Ahmad wrote.
He also addressed the widespread rumors that have sparked concern among the former President’s supporters.
"In light of the recent media reports suggesting that former President Muhammadu Buhari is critically ill and has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), we find it necessary to set the record straight," he stated.
Ahmad expressed gratitude for the widespread concern and prayers from Nigerians and supporters worldwide.
"We appreciate the outpouring of prayers and goodwill from his supporters and well-wishers around the world. We continue to pray for his complete and speedy recovery," the statement concluded.
