Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, has approved the comprehensive renovation of Bunza General Hospital following an unscheduled visit to the facility on Thursday.
The governor, who expressed deep concern over the deplorable condition of the hospital during the visit, said he was unaware of the extent of its deterioration.
“Nobody told me that this is how the hospital looks. I am not happy with what I saw. I have now given directives for the total renovation of this hospital, and the casual staff should be absorbed,” he said.
Governor Idris, who toured all the wards of the hospital, stressed that his administration will not tolerate negligence or insincerity in service delivery.
“This administration is for the people of Kebbi State, and we will not allow the healthcare sector to collapse,” he added.
He questioned how hospital staff had been able to manage patient care under such challenging conditions, promising immediate intervention.
Earlier, the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the hospital, Dr. Usman Issa, briefed the governor on the state of the facility. He revealed that a significant number of staff were casual workers and that the hospital urgently needed rehabilitation and medical equipment.
Dr. Issa thanked the governor for his swift intervention and commitment to improving healthcare services in the state.
“We are grateful to Your Excellency for this timely gesture that will enhance healthcare delivery for the good people of Kebbi State,” he said.
