Adamawa State Governor, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, CON, has expressed his heartfelt condolences to the Government and people of Nigeria, as well as to the family of the late President Muhammadu Buhari, following his passing in London.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Humwashi Wonosikou, Governor Fintiri described the former president’s death as a significant loss to the nation, noting that Buhari would be deeply missed by Nigerians and all who knew him.
Governor Fintiri praised President Buhari’s unwavering dedication to Nigeria’s growth and development, stating that his leadership—both as a military ruler and a democratically elected president—left an indelible mark on Nigeria’s history.
“President Buhari’s commitment to national unity, especially during some of the most challenging periods in our history, including the civil war, stands as a testament to his statesmanship and vision for a united Nigeria,” the Governor said.
Fintiri also highlighted the late president’s notable contributions to national development, particularly in the areas of infrastructure, agriculture, and security. He stressed that Buhari’s efforts to promote stability and deepen democracy in Nigeria will be remembered.
The Governor extended special condolences to Aisha Buhari, the wife of the late President, noting her roots in Adamawa State.
“I urge Her Excellency, Aisha Buhari, to take heart and find strength in the knowledge that she is not alone in her grief. We stand with her in this difficult time and pray that Allah grants her fortitude,” Fintiri said.
He concluded his message with prayers:
“May Allah grant the late President Muhammadu Buhari Aljannatul Firdaus, and may his legacy continue to inspire future generations of Nigerians. May God comfort the family and all loved ones during this trying period.”
