The Minority Leader of the House of Representatives and member representing Obio/Akpor Federal Constituency of Rivers State, Hon. Kingsley Ogundu Chinda, has described the people of Demsa, Numan, and Lamurde Local Government Areas of Adamawa State as fortunate to have elected a highly qualified representative to the National Assembly.

Hon. Chinda made the remark on Saturday in Numan while leading a delegation from the House of Representatives on a condolence visit to Rt. Hon. Kwamoti B. La’ori, the member representing Demsa/Numan/Lamurde Federal Constituency, over the passing of his beloved father, Baba Bernard La’ori.

Baba Bernard La’ori died on June 22, 2025, at the age of 67, at Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital, also known as FMC Yola. His burial took place in his hometown of Imburu, in Numan Local Government Area.

Describing Hon. Kwamoti B. La’ori, Hon. Chinda said:

“La’ori is a seasoned lawmaker who has served in the House for nearly 15 years. He understands the intricacies of the legislative process. Today, he serves as the Chief Judge of the House of Representatives and chairs the Public Petitions Committee, one of the most important committees in the House.

From what I’ve witnessed here, it’s clear that we are privileged to have such a committed and respected colleague in the National Assembly. On behalf of the House, we extend our heartfelt condolences on the loss of Baba La’ori and hope we all draw lessons from his exemplary life.”

Earlier at the funeral mass held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Numan, the Governor of Adamawa State, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, offered words of comfort to the bereaved family and the people of Numan. He noted that the late Baba Bernard La’ori would be deeply missed—not only by his family, but by the entire state. He also prayed for the peaceful repose of the deceased’s soul.

The delegation of lawmakers on the condolence visit included Hon. Magaji Amos, Hon. Bob Solomon, Hon. Obasa Tajudeen, Hon. Yusuf Tajudeen, Rt. Hon. James Shu’aibu Barka, Hon. Dekor Dumnamene, Hon. Zachariah D. Nyampa, and Hon. Justice Abdulaziz Waziri.

Other dignitaries in attendance included former Deputy Governor Mr. Crowder Seth; Speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Bathiya Wesley; Member representing Lamurde in the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Bauna Nyandasa; Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Hon. James Illiya; as well as the Chairmen of the Lamurde, Demsa, and Numan Local Government Councils.

Traditional rulers, community organizations, and numerous individuals also gathered to pay their last respects at the burial held in Imburu town on Saturday, July 5, 2025.
