The Governor of Niger State, Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, has announced plans to establish a fruits market in Minna as part of efforts to boost the agro-industry, promote socio-economic development, and reduce poverty across both rural and urban areas of the state.
Governor Bago made this known while receiving members of the Niger State Fruit Sellers Association at the Government House in Minna.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to agricultural development, explaining that the fruits market will play a key role in advancing the state’s agricultural revolution.
The governor expressed appreciation to the association for gifting him 3,000 orange seedlings, which he intends to plant on his farm. He said the gesture would significantly contribute to the state’s economic growth and development.
Governor Bago also used the opportunity to once again encourage citizens to embrace farming as a viable source of income, highlighting the vast potential within the agricultural sector.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Niger State Fruit Sellers Association, Alhaji Salisu Muhammad, said the visit was to thank the governor for his notable efforts in promoting agricultural mechanization and for his continued support to the association, which he noted has positively impacted their business.
He added that members of the association are ready to assist in planting the orange seedlings at the governor’s farm as a show of encouragement toward fruit production.
Alhaji Muhammad reaffirmed the association’s unwavering support for the administration of Farmer Governor Bago, commending his commitment to improving the livelihoods of residents across the state.
