The Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Institute of Leather and Science Technology (NILEST), Dr. Auwal Mustapha Imam, on Wednesday attended the NEXTGEN Innovations Challenge 2025, a national showcase organised by the National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI).
The event, held at the NICON Luxury Hotel in Abuja, was officially declared open by the Honourable Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Chief Uche Geoffrey Nnaji.
According to a statement signed and released by Nuhu Basheer Masa, Personal Assistant on Media and Communication to the DG NILEST, the event brought together delegates from all 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), who showcased creative and innovative ideas as part of the national challenge.
NBTI, one of the agencies under the Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology, spearheaded the initiative to promote grassroots innovation and entrepreneurship.
The statement further noted that Directors-General of several key agencies—including the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN), National Centre for Technology Management (NACETEM), National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion (NOTAP), and the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA)—were also in attendance.
The participation of the NILEST DG, the statement added, underscores the institute’s commitment to advancing indigenous technology and supporting platforms that encourage scientific creativity and research-driven solutions.
The NEXTGEN Innovations Challenge 2025 is part of the federal government’s broader agenda to cultivate a vibrant innovation ecosystem and empower young Nigerians to drive the country’s technological future.
