The Concerned North Central Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have officially launched broad-based consultations across the North Central geopolitical zone and other parts of the country to identify a suitable candidate to replace the former National Chairman of the party, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

In a statement signed by Hon. Mohammed Etsu, a former APC National Chairmanship aspirant at the 2022 convention and Convener/Coordinator of the group, the stakeholders emphasized that their initiative aims to ensure fairness, zoning balance, and recognition of the North Central zone's longstanding loyalty and contributions to the APC since its inception.

"This initiative follows the recent resignation of our former National Chairman, His Excellency Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, whose tenure ended amid widespread calls for equity and rebalancing within the party’s leadership structure," the statement read.

The group stated that, as committed stakeholders in the progress, unity, and sustainability of the APC, they view this moment as a historic opportunity for the North Central region to reclaim the party’s top leadership position.

"We are currently engaging party elders, elected officials, youth and women groups, and key power blocs within and beyond the zone to identify a credible, unifying, and visionary candidate who embodies the ideals of the founding fathers of the APC," Hon. Etsu noted.

According to the group, the ideal candidate must be someone capable of restoring internal party cohesion, strengthening electoral strategies, and supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in effectively delivering on his Renewed Hope Agenda without internal distractions.

"We firmly believe that the North Central zone is ready and fully capable of producing a consensus-based, experienced, and nationally respected figure for the APC National Chairmanship. Our consultations will culminate in a formal presentation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the APC National Working Committee (NWC), and the National Executive Committee (NEC) in due course," the statement added.

The group concluded by appealing to all party members across Nigeria to support this patriotic effort, which they described as essential for the party’s stability and in the broader national interest.
