*MAAUN Management, Friends, and Well-Wishers Celebrate Achievement

The President of the Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN)
Group of Universities, Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, has been conferred with
the prestigious “Trailblazer in Tertiary Education Award” by Blueprint
Newspaper.
The award presentation, which took place on
Tuesday, 22nd July, 2025, was held at the Ladi Kwali Hall of the Abuja
Continental Hotel during the Blueprint Newspaper Annual Lecture, Impact Series,
and Awards Ceremony.
The high-profile event attracted a galaxy of
dignitaries including Governors, Ministers, lawmakers, policymakers, captains
of industry, and top public servants who gathered to honour distinguished
personalities contributing to Nigeria’s development.
Professor Gwarzo’s recognition came in
appreciation of his remarkable leadership in the education sector and his
transformative impact on tertiary education through the MAUN Group of
Universities. Under his stewardship, the institution has expanded access to
quality university education, earning accolades both nationally and
internationally.
According to the management of Blueprint
Newspaper, the award celebrates Professor Gwarzo’s unwavering dedication to
educational excellence, youth empowerment, and nation-building. He was lauded
for his vision and commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s education landscape
and for playing a pivotal role in promoting academic growth across the country.
The ceremony also witnessed honours being
bestowed upon several other eminent Nigerians across categories such as good
governance, public service, innovation, and community development.
Among the key personalities present were the
Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris; Minister of
Solid Minerals, Dele Alake; Secretary to the Government of the Federation,
Senator George Akume; Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin;
and Special Adviser to the President and National Coordinator of the
Presidential Livestock Reform Initiative, Professor Attahiru Jega.
The event, which doubled as an annual lecture
and impact series, served as a platform for national dialogue, recognising
contributions of individuals and institutions towards Nigeria’s socio-economic
