The Zamfara State Government has empowered 100 women running small and medium-scale businesses across the 14 Local Government Areas of the state through an Unconditional Cash Grant initiative.
Speaking during the flag-off ceremony on Wednesday in Gusau, the Wife of the Zamfara State Governor, Hajiyya Huriyya Lawal, said the initiative is part of Governor Dauda Lawal’s administration’s efforts to promote inclusive development and economic empowerment.
"This programme is designed to empower women and strengthen the foundation for community development and growth," she stated.
“We believe that when you empower a woman, you empower a generation. These grants are not just financial support; they are a declaration of trust in the dreams, resilience, and entrepreneurial spirit of Zamfara women.
"Today, 100 determined and enterprising women have been carefully selected to receive cash grants ranging from ₦300,000 to ₦500,000 each. These funds are intended to help expand and uplift their businesses. The support is unconditional, because we believe in your vision, your efforts, and your ability to succeed."
The First Lady further highlighted that the programme aligns with Governor Lawal’s broader vision for inclusive governance—one that places women at the center of the state’s growth agenda.
“From the building and equipping of the new Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, to the monthly cash transfers for women entrepreneurs, and the foundation laying of a new Women’s Center, the message is clear: the welfare and dignity of women, children, persons with disabilities, and the vulnerable remain a top priority of this administration.”
She congratulated the beneficiaries, urging them to make good use of the grants.
“To the 100 women receiving support today, congratulations! May this mark the beginning of a new chapter of success, independence, and prosperity for you and your families. Use it wisely, and may Allah bless your efforts and multiply your returns.”
The First Lady concluded by appreciating her husband, Governor Dauda Lawal, for his “unwavering support, compassion, and clear vision” for the future of Zamfara State.
“Together, Insha’Allah, we will continue to build a more empowered, inclusive, and prosperous Zamfara State,” she said.
