The Bauchi State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the civil service, stating that its annual promotion examinations consistently yield positive results in terms of performance and service delivery.

The Head of Civil Service, Barrister Mohammed Sani Umar, made this known on Wednesday while declaring open a two-day sensitisation workshop for 2,834 civil servants ahead of the 2025 promotion examinations. The event took place at the Multipurpose Indoor Sports Hall in Bauchi.

Umar explained that the workshop, organised by the Office of the Head of Civil Service, is a strategic effort to enhance the competence and efficiency of the state’s workforce. He stressed the crucial role civil servants play in the effective delivery of government services.

“The training is designed to equip our civil servants with the knowledge, skills, and confidence required not only to excel in the upcoming examinations but also to perform optimally in their daily duties,” he said.

“By investing in the growth and development of our workforce, we are investing in the future of Bauchi State.”

The Head of Service expressed satisfaction with the impact of similar initiatives in the past, noting that the pass rate in last year’s promotion examinations increased from 75 percent to 83 percent.

“This remarkable achievement is a testament to the effectiveness of our capacity-building programmes and the dedication of our civil servants. I am confident that this year’s workshop will build on that success and drive further improvement,” Umar added.

He commended Governor Bala Mohammed for his unwavering support, particularly for approving and releasing the funds needed for the training programme, which he described as a clear reflection of the governor’s commitment to a robust and effective civil service.

Umar also lauded Dugge Management Services Ltd. for their professional support in facilitating the training, urging participants to fully engage with the sessions and apply the knowledge acquired in their respective roles.

In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary, General Administration Department, Office of the Head of Civil Service, Dawud Mahmood Yakubu (Esq.), praised Alhaji Gambo Magaji, Chairman and CEO of Dugge Management Services Ltd., for his consistent support in ensuring that Bauchi State civil servants receive high-quality training.

He expressed optimism that the knowledge and skills gained during the workshop would have a lasting and positive impact on the effectiveness of the state's civil service.
