Call for Inclusivity in Kaduna Peace Conference

I, Idris Umar Samaru, a journalist and devoted lover of Kaduna State, wish to express my concern and offer sincere advice regarding the recent peace conference organized by the Kaduna State Government under the leadership of His Excellency, Senator Uba Sani, the Executive Governor of Kaduna State.

Considering that the conference was convened in the spirit of promoting peace in the state, it is unfortunate that not all religious groups were included—particularly the Shi’a sect, followers of Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky.

To the best of my knowledge, many members of this sect reside in Kaduna State and could have made meaningful contributions to the peace dialogue, despite any differences that may exist with them in certain areas.

I strongly believe that if they had been respectfully invited and the purpose of the conference clearly explained, they would not have declined to attend. Their inclusion would have fostered greater understanding and unity among the diverse communities in our state.

I appeal to His Excellency, the Governor—whom I know to be a compassionate and upright leader—to further open the doors of dialogue and inclusivity without discrimination. This would strengthen public trust and demonstrate that his administration works for the benefit of all citizens of Kaduna State.

In my opinion, the involvement of influential figures such as His Royal Highness, the Emir of Zazzau, Ambassador Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli CFR, Sheikh Yusuf Sambo Rigacikun, and Dr. Ahmad Gumi could play a significant role in ensuring the success of such peace efforts.

I respectfully urge His Excellency, the Governor, to reconsider this matter and take appropriate steps to ensure inclusiveness in future initiatives.

May Allah bless our dear state and the entire nation with peace and unity.
