Delay in Certificate Release Angers A.D. Rufa’i College Graduates in Bauchi

Graduands of the A.D Rufa'i College of Education, Legal & General Studies, Misau Bauchi have sent a 'Save Our Sorrow' (SOS) to the State Ministry of Higher Education over the release of their certificates after graduation.

The 2023/2024 graduates of the institution said that the prolonged delay in releasing their certificates after graduation has caused serious emotional and academic setbacks.

2023/2024 Law Students Association of Nigeria (LAWSAN), Bauchi State Chapter President, Nuraini Junaidu Allyu, explained that the delay in release of certificates has made them unable to apply for Universities' admission or advance in their chosen careers.

LAWSAN said in a letter to the Bauchi Ministry for Higher Education that the college provost always hides under the pretext that the college has no money, no TETFuND intervention or that the State Government has not given money to the College.

Aliyu pleaded, "We humbly appeal to your esteemed office to kindly intervene and facilitate the immediate collection of the certificates. Your prompt action will not only relieve the affected students but also uphold the integrity and efficiency of our educational system".

They sought the urgent intervention of the ministry's commissioner regarding the long delay or even at worst, a total lack of readiness by the college in the collection of their original certificates from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria with which their alma-mata is affiliated.

Graduands told the commissioner, "It may therefore interest you to know that many of our members, having successfully graduated, have now mobilized ourselves with our own efforts and funds to try to pay and secure our certificates so we can continue the long-bearing academic career of our dreams".

The association president stated however that they entertain threats from the college as some of them were even summoned for organizing themselves to pursue their educational rights.

"This happens as the situation has become even more urgent because the Direct Entry (DE) registration into Universities is already at risk of closing, and although the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has not yet officially specified a deadline, time is almost expiring and clearly running out", Aliyu cried.

"Even though we suppose that the facilitation process for certificates' collection is a sole responsibility of the College, yet, there has been no green light at the end of the tunnel from the College authorities, hence, our resolve to do it for ourselves as we are the ones at the receiving end".
