The Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Institute of Leather and Science Technology (NILEST), Dr. Auwal Mustapha Imam, has relieved two of his Special Assistants of their duties and suspended two staff members over alleged gross misconduct.
This was contained in a statement signed and released on Friday by Remi Basorun, Head of Information, Protocol and Public Relations.
According to the statement, those affected include the Special Assistant on Administration, Malam Tanimu Garba, and the Special Assistant on Student Matters, Comrade Aminu Umar.
Comrade Aminu Umar, who is currently undergoing his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program, was advised by the Director-General to fully concentrate on his national assignment and return to service upon its completion. Dr. Imam emphasized his commitment to upholding the values of the NYSC and the importance of dedicating oneself to national duty.
Meanwhile, two staff members have been suspended and are under investigation for alleged criminal offenses. They are expected to appear before the institution’s Disciplinary Committee for further action.
In a related development, the Director-General has ordered an investigation into reports implicating certain staff members in attempts to incite students to create security threats within the campus community.
Dr. Imam reiterated his firm commitment to the rule of law, institutional discipline, and the protection of public interest in all his administrative engagements.
