On Wednesday, August 6, 2025, El-Amin Foundation, in collaboration with El-Amin University, Minna, donated essential sanitary items to inmates of the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Tunga, Minna.

The donation was a result of an earlier visit on January 29, 2025, by students from the Faculty of Law, El-Amin University, who assessed the hygiene conditions at the centre, particularly among female inmates. Following their visit, the students submitted a report to the Provost Chancellor, Dr. Muhammad Babangida.

In response, Dr. Babangida encouraged the students to demonstrate compassion by supporting the less privileged. He directed the report to El-Amin Foundation and approved the students’ initiative, emphasizing that they should be given the opportunity to express love and kindness in their own way.

As part of its annual outreach activities, which include donations to custodial centres and interventions in minor legal cases such as payment of fines to secure the release of inmates, the Foundation decided to complement the students’ efforts without delay.

This joint action resulted in the donation of 300 toothbrushes, 300 tubes of toothpaste, 300 jars of petroleum jelly, 200 sanitary towels, 100 one-litre bottles of disinfectant, 100 mosquito nets, and 300 bars of laundry soap to the custodial centre.

The items were presented by Professor Muhammad Bello Uthman, Dean of the Faculty of Law at El-Amin University; Ameera Abbas Bello, a staff member of the University; and Mr. Bwada Isah Sa’idu, Coordinator 2 of the El-Amin Foundation.

They were warmly received by AbdulRahman Shagari on behalf of the Comptroller of Corrections, who expressed heartfelt appreciation and gratitude for the kind gesture.
