The Kebbi State Government has announced the creation of a new district—Sarandosa—in Maiyama Local Government Area and approved the appointment of two new district heads.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Garba Umar Dutsinmari, and made available to journalists in Birnin Kebbi on Wednesday.
According to the statement, the newly established Sarandosa District, with its headquarters in Sarandosa, was carved out of the existing Sarkin Kudun Maiyama District in Maiyama. It comprises five village areas: Gubba, Sarandosa, Acikaratu Ubandawaki, Acikaratun Dodo, and Tsalibi.
Dutsinmari explained that the creation of the new district became necessary due to the rapid expansion and administrative needs of Maiyama Local Government Area.
He further announced the appointment of Dr. Faruk Abdullahi Maiyama as the new District Head of Sarandosa, with the traditional title of Sarkin Gabas Sarandosa.
Meanwhile, the existing Maiyama District, with its headquarters in Maiyama, retains its name and the title of Sarkin Kudun Maiyama. It now comprises the following village areas: Dangaladiman Maiyama, Yariman Maiyama, Giwatazo, Kurya, Rafintofa, Zara Birni, and Idiga.
Alhaji Garba Umar Dutsinmari also announced the appointment of Haliru Haruna Maiyama as the new District Head of Maiyama District, bearing the title Sarkin Kudun Maiyama.
