The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has embarked on a renewed journey to strengthen democratic governance in Nigeria, with a focus on people-centred leadership and inclusive political engagement.

The unveiling event, held at the party secretariat located at 3 Arm Nagari Residential Layout, Eastern Bypass, Maitumbi, Minna, Niger State, drew notable figures from across the region. Among them were Hajiya Hassana Shuaibu Dada (Gimbayar Maikunkele), the National Assistant Youth Leader for the North Central Zone, and Dr. Peter Edeh, former North Central Party Chairman, who delivered a keynote lecture on the theme of political struggle and leadership.

Senator Tunde Ogbeha, Deputy National Chairman representing the North Central Zone, served as the father of the day.

In his remarks, Engineer Umar Usman, Chairman of ADC Bosso Local Government Area and head of the party’s coalition of leaders across Niger State’s 25 local government areas, praised the leadership of Alhaji Musa Hassan for revitalising the party in the state. He expressed confidence that the ADC’s challenges were behind them, stating, “Our doors are open to anyone ready to join us in rescuing Niger State and Nigeria from the current political and socio-economic crisis.”

He emphasized the party’s readiness to engage in a meaningful political struggle to deliver effective leadership and representation. “This gathering reflects the will of the people—those who have grown weary of neglect and have committed their time and resources to this cause,” he said.

One attendee reportedly traveled from Bargu in Agwara Magama, enduring an eight to nine-hour journey to witness the event. “This level of commitment shows that the 2027 elections will be unlike any before,” Engineer Umar added.

Alhaji Musa Hassan, ADC State Chairman and Coalition Leader, reaffirmed the unity of the party in Niger State, declaring, “There is only one ADC in this state, and I am its chairman.” He urged citizens to return to their constituencies and register with the party, which he said is aligned with the leadership of Senator David Mark.

He called on Nigerians to obtain their voter cards from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), stressing that the ADC is prepared to take over governance at all levels. “We believe in fair leadership, and we are ready to rescue Nigeria from insecurity, unemployment, poverty, and despair,” he said.

Alhaji Musa also revealed that members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have begun defecting to the ADC. “Due to the overwhelming response, we cannot yet provide exact figures. But our doors remain open—we harbour no hatred. What we seek is unity to save our country.”

He noted that leaders from most of the 18 political parties in the state were present at the gathering, expressing optimism that many would eventually align with the ADC. “After my leadership, there is no other legitimate leader in this state. Anyone claiming otherwise is a traitor, and we are taking steps to address this.”

Hajiya Hassana Shuaibu Dada urged Nigerian youth to reject political manipulation and corruption. “This is our time,” she declared. “We must unite to protect the dignity of our country. Many of us are graduates but remain unemployed. We are being intimidated and denied opportunities to serve. The peace and future of Nigeria rest in your hands.”

In his keynote address, Dr. Peter Edeh emphasised that good leadership stems from the people’s will. “A brighter future depends on our collective determination. Every patriot must cast off fear and reject greed to build a better Nigeria,” he said.

The event marked a significant moment in ADC’s efforts to galvanise support and build a coalition for transformative leadership ahead of the 2027 elections.
