The Bauchi state government has submitted a supplementary budget of N154.595 billion to the State House of Assembly for approval.

The request was presented by the House Majority Leader, Sale Hodi Jibir during the plenary presided over by Speaker Dr. Abubakar Y. Sulaiman.

Hodi who explained that the supplementary budget was approved at the State Executive Council meeting, according to a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Aminu Hammayo.

He noted that Governor Bala Mohammed is seeking the Assembly's approval in line with the 1999 Constitution to accelerate the execution of priority projects aimed at improving the welfare of Bauchi residents.

On Wednesday, the House passed the supplementary budget for second reading and referred it to the committee on appropriation, which has been given two weeks to report back for further legislative action.

The budget may subsequently be passed into law.

Recall that State Governor, Bala Mohammed, in November 2024, presented a N465.855 billion budget proposal for the 2025 fiscal year to the state House of Assembly.

Meanwhile, at the Executive Council (SEC) routine meeting in Bauchi Wednesday, August 27, 2025, the Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of Bauchi has expressed delight that his government's budget performance this year has reached over 70% by this August ending.

He said, "I'm glad that we have exceeded our collective expectation as a council in terms of budget performance for the year by reaching over seventy percent of the budget performance."

Meanwhile, the member representing Udubo Constituency, Alhaji Ahmed Mohammed Lele, raised a motion under matters of urgent public importance, appealing for the relocation of Gadiya community to safer ground.

He said recent flooding in the area destroyed homes, farmlands, and properties worth millions of naira, rendering many families homeless. The displaced residents are currently taking refuge in neighboring communities.

Lele called on the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to provide immediate palliatives to the victims and further urged the Gamawa Local Government Council to speed up the allocation of 2,000 hectares of farmland earlier approved by the state government to boost agricultural production.

In his ruling, the Speaker directed the Clerk of the Assembly to communicate the resolutions to the Executive for necessary action.
