President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially lifted the emergency rule in Rivers State, paving the way for the return of democratic governance in the state after six months of federal intervention.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the President directed the suspended Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, to resume office on Thursday, September 18.
Also instructed to return to their official duties are Deputy Governor Ngozi Nma Odu and members of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
The emergency rule was imposed six months ago following a political crisis that threatened governance in the state.
