Preparations are in top gear for the turbaning of Malam Umar Aliyu Shayi as the Jarumin Waja, scheduled to hold on Saturday at the Balanga Emir’s Palace in Gombe State.
Speaking to journalists in Bauchi on Wednesday, the Chairman of the Central Working Committee, Malam Kawu Aliyu — a highly respected elder statesman in Bauchi State — confirmed that the committee has received and reviewed reports from all subcommittees tasked with organising the high-profile event.
Malam Kawu expressed satisfaction with the level of commitment and professionalism demonstrated by committee members and stakeholders, noting that their contributions have been vital to the progress made so far.
"I am deeply impressed by the efforts of everyone involved. The level of support and dedication has been remarkable," he said, adding that all necessary arrangements are being finalised to ensure a smooth and dignified ceremony.
He also called on participants, guests, and residents to remain law-abiding and adhere strictly to security protocols throughout the event, stressing the importance of order and safety during such gatherings.
In conclusion, the committee chairman offered prayers of gratitude for divine guidance and protection during the planning stages and prayed for the successful conduct of the turbaning ceremony.
Meanwhile, the honoree, Malam Umar Aliyu Shayi, expressed appreciation for the committee’s work and acknowledged the support he has received from both within and outside the community. He described the conferment of the Jarumin Waja title as a great honour and pledged to continue serving humanity with wisdom and humility.
“I thank the Almighty Allah for this recognition. It is a call to more responsibility, and I remain committed to promoting peace, unity, and service to the people,” he stated.
The turbaning ceremony is expected to attract traditional rulers, dignitaries, and well-wishers from across the country.
