The MAAUN Group of Universities has entered into an international partnership with Seneca College of Applied Arts and Technology in Canada, formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing English language training, student exchange programs, and collaborative academic initiatives.
The MAAUN Group, which includes the
Canadian University of Nigeria in Abuja, Franco British International
University in Kaduna, Maryam Abacha American University in Niger’s Maradi, and
Maryam Abacha American University in Kano, is seeking to expand its global
reach through the partnership.
The agreement was signed on
Thursday, September 4, 2025, with Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, Founder and
President of MAAUN Group, representing the four universities, while David Agnew
signed on behalf of Seneca College.
Speaking during the signing
ceremony, Prof. Gwarzo highlighted the strategic intent behind the MoU, noting
that the collaboration would provide students and staff access to international
resources and expertise.
“This partnership reflects our
unwavering commitment to link our universities to leading institutions across
the globe in order to promote innovation and research within the MAAUN Group,”
he said.
Under the agreement, both
institutions will share expertise and information while providing mutual
support to achieve shared objectives. Key areas of collaboration include
offering online English language training to MAAUN Group students, creating
pathways for students to continue their education at Seneca, and providing
education consultation for MAAUN staff.
The partnership also outlines the
development of joint academic programs, with details such as credential type,
program length, and academic focus to be jointly determined by both
institutions.
Additionally, the MoU provides for
strategies to promote learning opportunities at Seneca to students within the
MAAUN Group and identifies other areas of mutual cooperation.
Prof. Gwarzo expressed confidence in
the long-term impact of the partnership, emphasizing that the MoU would lay the
foundation for sustained collaboration.
“We are committed to the full
implementation of this agreement to foster research and innovation and to
achieve the set objectives. This is a significant step toward strengthening
academic excellence across our institutions,” he said.
The MoU represents a deliberate
effort by MAAUN Group to expand its global partnerships, ensuring students and
staff benefit from international exposure and training while enhancing the
group’s capacity for research and innovation.
