Nigeria’s Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism, and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, has taken Nigeria’s cultural diplomacy to the global stage with a strategic media engagement in Chengdu, China, ahead of the prestigious Golden Panda Awards 2025.
In a post shared via her official X (formerly Twitter) handle, Musawa emphasised the unifying power of culture, describing it as a “bridge that unites nations.” She underscored Nigeria’s commitment to leveraging its rich creative potential in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which positions the creative economy as a key driver of national growth, innovation, and international collaboration.
“Ahead of the Golden Panda Awards 2025, this morning I engaged with the media here in Chengdu, home of the giant pandas,” Musawa wrote. “I highlighted the power of culture as a bridge that unites nations, drawing from Nigeria’s vision under the Renewed Hope Agenda to harness creativity as a driver of growth, innovation and global connection.”
The minister said the media engagement offered an important platform to share Nigeria’s evolving cultural narrative with a global audience, while also strengthening cultural ties with China and the international community.
Musawa’s presence in Chengdu signals Nigeria’s growing participation in global cultural events and its ambition to position itself as a creative hub in Africa. Her engagement comes at a time when the global spotlight is increasingly turning to Africa’s art, culture, and creative industries as engines of economic transformation and soft power diplomacy.
